アメリカ在住のイギリス人フォトグラファー、マイケル・ケンナ（Michael Kenna）による作品集。1973年に初めてフランスを訪れ、その後は1980年代初頭以降継続してフランスでの撮影を続け、モン・サン＝ミシェルやル・ノートルの庭園、カレーのレース工場、ワイン農園のシャトー・ラフィット・ロートシルトなど、様々な作品をこれまでに制作している。本作は、そのようなプロジェクトをはじめとした既に広く知られる作者のフランスでの作品アーカイブだけでなく、未公開イメージまで幅広くセレクトされている。本書は、2014年10月にカルナヴァレ美術館で開催された展覧会に合わせて刊行。歴史家でありキュレーターのジャン=クロード・ルマニー（Jean-Claude Lemagny）によるテキストを収録。

Kenna first visited France in 1973 and has been photographing there since the early 1980s. He has produced thousands of photographs on subjects such as Mont St Michel, Le Notre’s Gardens, the Calais Lace Factories and Chateau Lafite Rothschild. France encompasses work from these projects and many others. Comprising 275 duotone plates, this gorgeous new book was edited by the artist himself, who selected both well-known and previously unpublished material from his own archive. It coincides with an exhibition of his Paris studies at Le Musée Carnavalet opening October 2014. The book opens with an introduction in French and English by renowned historian and curator Jean-Claude Lemagny.
