ドイツ人アーティスト、ヨーゼフ・ボイス（Joseph Beuys）の作品集。1998年から1999年にかけてニューヨークの「ディア・チェルシー（Dia Chelsea）」で行われた展覧会に伴い刊行された。作者が4年前に制作したマルチプル作品の素材となったこのドローイングの作品群は、1979年にディア芸術センター（Dia Center for the Arts）により購入された。ディア・コレクションの中でも主要作品であり、戦後を代表する作者の作品に焦点を当てドキュメントされた一冊。ニューヨーク近代美術館（MoMA）の絵画・彫刻部門チーフ・キュレーターのアン・テムキン（Ann Temkin）、 レオナルド・ダ・ヴィンチ研究家のマーティン・ケンプ（Martin Kemp）、 美術史家・インディペンデントキュレーターのコーネリア・ラウフ（Cornelia Lauf）によるエッセイも収録。

A group of drawings, part of the "raw material" for a multiple that the German artist Joseph Beuys had produced four years earlier, was purchased by Dia Center for the Arts in 1979. One of a number of major pieces in Dia's collection by this seminal postwar German artist, it forms the object of study and documentation in this publication.
