作者はコピーライターであり、広告に関する著書でよく知られている。バーバラ・シュワルツ（Barbara Schwarz）夫人とともに、当時、アメリカにおける最も重要な現代美術コレクションを築き上げた。そして、そのコレクションから重要な作品数百点を、アメリカ国内の施設に惜しみなく寄贈し、その発展に寄与している。

Together with his wife Barbara Schwartz, he assembled one of the most important collections of contemporary American art at the time. They generously donated hundreds of important works from their collection to institutions in the USA.
